Your privacy in the workshop.

Updated October 2, 2026

FINN Workshop is a shared, public room operated by David Shin. You can watch without an account. Signing in lets you choose a public name and interact with FINN. Chat is closed in the current app and its public API; earlier approved messages may remain visible.

Information used to run your account

Google sign-in shares your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile picture with Neon Auth, our authentication provider. Neon manages your login and sessions. The workshop stores your account identifier with the separate public name you choose. Your Google email, name, and profile picture are not included in the public room.

This information is used to authenticate you, associate your interactions with your account, and operate and moderate the workshop. It is not used by the workshop for advertising or to train AI models. FINN’s current replies are scripted.

What other visitors can see

Unapproved messages are visible to you and the host, not to other visitors. Please keep personal or sensitive information out of messages and public names. Other people can copy information you publish publicly.

Cookies and service providers

The workshop uses essential login cookies to maintain your session. An anonymous, random spectator cookie limits simultaneous live-room connections in one browser; it lasts up to eight hours, is not an account, and grants no permission to interact. It is not used for analytics or personal memory. Google and Neon handle sign-in, Neon stores account and room data, and Railway hosts the application. These providers also process request and session information needed to deliver their services, such as IP addresses and browser information, under their own policies. The workshop does not add advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser stores a local notebook-read timestamp to highlight new garden entries; it is not sent to the server. Shared planter attribution and chapter milestones remain in the room state until removed by the operator.

How long information stays

Account profiles remain until deleted. The active conversation history retains up to 40 approved entries. A small chapter history keeps confirmed garden milestones separately from the latest routine care notes. Paper-star gifts keep a receipt with the gift date, public giver name, and an internal account identifier so FINN can recognize the giver on later visits. Other visitors can see giver names and dates, but not internal account identifiers. The collection shows recent gifts and your own receipt; older accepted receipts remain saved until removed by the operator or handled through a deletion request. Earlier gifts that only recorded a name are preserved without assigning them to an account. Local preview guest recognition lasts only for that temporary visitor session.

The room also stores its current shared state, the newest twelve sketches, the newest eight authored meadow discoveries, and up to three lasting pond-study pages. Pond pages record the completion dates of shared authored outings and remain after the chapter is complete. These records describe shared activities, not personal information or visitor conversations. Your local notebook-read timestamp covers these records as well as garden entries.

A brief shared hello may acknowledge a group of arriving visitors. It contains no visitor names or identifiers. To limit repeated hellos, the server temporarily tracks the existing connection-admission identity while it is connected and for up to ten minutes after its last departure, within a bounded capacity. This tracking is not saved as personal memory and resets when the server restarts.

Presence, conversation turns, queues, and unapproved messages are temporary and reset when the backend restarts. An open browser may retain a draft for you to review and resend. Provider logs and backups may retain information according to their retention settings.

The public knowledge book keeps selected shared-world conclusions, their dated evidence, and any public source notes deliberately reviewed by the host. Earlier revisions remain visible after correction or withdrawal and do not expire when the activity journal rolls over. Visitor messages, gifts, names and account identifiers are not automatically copied into this knowledge book. Reviewed reference links load only when you choose to open them.
